Short history of a family doctor practice and how it evolved to an online counseling platform

The general practice at Goethestrasse 16 in Zurich has been operating continuously for several decades. Dr. Dani succeeded Dr. Philip Dreiding on July 1, 2019. Dr. Dani ran the thriving Ocarana Practice Dr. Dani, with approximately 2,000 patients, until the end of 2024. By order of October 18, 2024, the Zurich Health Directorate abruptly revoked his license to practice medicine independently without prior hearing, citing the granting of mask and vaccination exemptions to three patients during the COVID-19 pandemic (https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/hausarzt-verliert-seine-praxisbewilligung-wegen-corona-attesten-589250103218).

The revocation of the license to practice was criticized in various legal circles, including citing potentially disproportionate administrative practices and the lack of judicial review. Dr. Dani filed various appeals against the order, which were either dismissed or not addressed.

Dr. Dani’s Ocarana practice was acquired by Dr. Giovanni Ruffo/Operamedica AG in January 2025. Dr. Dani worked at Operamedica AG until June 30, 2025. After that, Dr. Dani’s hired team focused on developing the new online platform www.ocarana.ch, which initially provides further support to his patients with advice.
